Notes: These unusual Type-B buses are equipped with Detriot Diesel 8.2L engines, automatic transmissions, air brakes, air-operated entrance doors, and extended headroom. The front hood on the bus is hinged at the top and flips up to open; There is also a small hatch to the right of the driver's area that provides access to the oil and transmission dipsticks. The gearshift on these buses is located in a strange place- on the floor to the left of the driver's seat. Adults and high school students enjoy riding in these buses, because there is generous leg-room between the seats. However, the seats sit very low (the tops of the seats are just slightly higher than the bottom of the windows) and smaller elementary students are not tall enough to see out of the windows!
